Reflection: Civil Rights Weekend

posted in: Uncategorized | 0

This weekend I was able to attend a few of the Civil Rights Weekend events, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The panel of student activists that took place in the Campus Y last Friday was really interesting. Each panelist shared their different stories of what they do as activists such as rights for the housing staff, gender equality, and racial equality. I really enjoyed listening to what each of the panelists had to say. Friday afternoon I went to the Civil Rights Exhibit at the Jackson Center and I had a really good time. There were photos of the Civil Rights Movement in Chapel Hill all around the Jackson Center and a lot of community members stopped by to look at the photos. I was able to interview a few people who came to see the exhibit and I was really intrigued by what they were saying. Overall I think it was a great success.
