• Wellness Calls and Advocacy: Our team is making 200+ calls every week to check in on neighbors, share information and resources, and learn any information you have to share to.  If you want to be added to our call list (or want to add a loved one), please contact us (below!).  Our strength as an organization has always been ongoing connection and advocacy support.  We are committed to working with neighbors through this time and adapting our work in dialogue with our neighbors.
  • Vaccine Coordination: We are working with partners to ensure neighbors have access to the vaccine, including navigating challenges with transportation and accurate information. Our communities are disproportionately impacted by the pandemic, and must not overlooked in the vaccine distribution process!
  • Neighborhood Walk-Throughs: We are doing social distance walks through Northside, Pine Knolls, and Tin Top on Wednesdays and Fridays between 3-5 pm, weather permitting. Come out on your porch and say hello. We may even sing!  Check out this video from the News and Observer of one of our recent walks.
  • Hot Meal Deliveries: Every Friday afternoon, we are delivering hot, healthy, delicious meals to neighbors in Northside/Pine Knolls, prioritizing community elders, in partnership with Vimala’s Curryblossom Cafe. These efforts support our neighbors while supporting a local restaurant who has always generously donated to our work. We may add additional days. Call the Jackson Center to reserve meals, and we will add you if we have the capacity!
  • Grocery Deliveries: Each week, we deliver fresh groceries supplied by partners to those without access to transportation. We also have a limited number of grocery gift cards. Call for more information.
  • Application Assistance: If you are struggling to navigate or access an application for assistance, like SNAP benefits, unemployment, etc., please give us a call and we will try to assist you over the phone.
  • Emergency repairs or funding assistance:  If you have an emergency home repair or an emergency funding need caused by this crisis (like a loss of job resulting in rental or mortgage assistance need), we may be able to connect you to needed resources. Call our office.
  • Northside News delivery: We will be updating neighbors with the latest COVID-19 related information on Facebook, our blog and in the Northside News. If you know about local resources that might help our neighbors, please let us know and we’ll help spread the word. You can access the Northside News on our website: jacksoncenter.info/the-northside-news or on our blog: jacksoncenter.info/blog/freedoms-journal/
