We see cause for celebration everywhere — in the wisdom of our elders, in the abundance of Northside community, in our century of struggle to claim, protect, and enjoy local rights, in the generosity of neighbors, and the stalwart dedication of local leaders. We host such major events such as our Northside Festival (formerly known as May Day), other seasonal celebrations like our wildly popular Valentine’s Day Singing Telegrams, and our Holiday Party featuring the culinary and musical talents of our neighbors; our Northside Neighborhood Cookout to celebrate and to strengthen the connections between long-term residents and students; and lots of pop-up events, like our Front Porch Revival tour, hosted by neighbors. And we also simply take up the community mandate to wave when you pass. For us too, Northside community includes local residents but extends to the furthest reaches of all who seek temporary solace and comfort here. The MCJC is a hub of connection of renewal across ties that cannot be broken.
