Aly grew up in Maryland but currently resides in Northside with her partner and snack-obsessed dog, Good Girl. She was introduced to the Jackson Center through a service learning course two years ago and has since spent time as a service partner and a member of the Center’s Student Leadership Group (SLG). Last year, on the SLG’s Intentional Housing subcommittee, Aly and her teammate Ana Soule began developing plans for a living learning community in Northside and won the Robert E. Bryan Fellowship, securing startup funds and enrollment in a class that helped them further flesh out the program’s design. Aly is incredibly excited to continue working on the project as a Summer Fellow at the Jackson Center and can’t wait to see the house become a reality! This summer she hopes to meet more of her neighbors, better understand her community, and then help other students do the same. In addition to Northside, Aly is passionate about rights for the mentally ill, rights for the homeless, housing justice, and the intersection of the three. In her spare time, she likes reading, roller skating, and watching horribly, low-quality reality TV.
