The Northside Neighborhood “History of Homes” Soundwalk

All of our volunteers are required (and visitors encouraged) to take the Histories of Home soundwalk, an invitation to listen to everyday history-makers. Featuring the voices of over a dozen community members and narrated by Northside natives, this audio tour is an introduction to some of the stories, struggles, and aspirations of our community.

Facing Our Neighbors

The Jackson Scholars Program

Drawing inspiration from the deep tradition of youth activism in the Northside and Pine Knolls communities, the Jackson Scholars Program introduces high school students to the multi-faceted work of public history and creative community development.

The Southern Oral History Program

One of our primary partners and houses a collection of over 4,000 oral histories. The program will host many of the Jackson Center’s life history interviews and make them available online soon. The SOHP is also home to several dozen oral history interviews related to the Northside community.
